I am an award-winning journalist and documentary director, media producer, emcee and influencer born on the nature island of the Caribbean, Dominica. Having had over 15 years experience in the media landscape and having interviewed over 200 persons I know what it takes to keep an audience entertained and locked in.
Currently, I am the host of Jael Joseph LIVE- an interview series with guests from across the Caribbean and the Caribbean diaspora. The goal is to foster understanding and appreciation of Caribbean people.
I am a film-maker; recently won the award for Best Short Documentary at the Caribbean Tales International Film Festival in September 2023, the founder of www.blackislandgirl.com a space for stories on the experiences of Black Caribbean people and an instructor in the media and communication faculty at University of Guelph-Humber. I am a proud mum of two boys.
A Canadian- Dominican content producer and influencer, I share the immigrant story with others from across the diaspora and straddle the line between Dominica and Canada, while remaining true to my authentic self.
Topics I can speak to include, diversity and equality, Caribbean and LGBTQ issues, Caribbean immigrant issues, film, social media, content creation, women and issues related to the Black, Caribbean female experience, Caribbean music and entertainment, motherhood, Indigenous (Kalinago) experience to name a few.
Education
I am the first Black woman to be the recipient of the 2019/2020 Faulhaber Communications Award for women aspiring to be a senior leader in communications and The Johnny Lombardi Creative Endowment Graduate Award in 2022. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with Distinction, as well as a minor in English and Politics from Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly Ryerson University School of Journalism in Canada and Master of Art degree in Media Production at the Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University.

MY NAME IS Jael Joseph
I was told once to never bite off more than I can chew. I don’t believe in that saying. I rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity. I have an extensive background in production, coordination, hosting and digital marketing.
I created and founded 767 Girls Rock an organization that seeks to inspire women. I am the founder and executive producer of “Champion MixKing” a live DJ Competition in Dominica with its aim to improve the art of Djing among young people. I also created Cacoa Tea with Jael Joseph and I am the founder of Black Island Girl Multimedia.
I have made numerous television and radio appearances including Q95’s Q Talent Search, Vibes Radio’s Joy and Love, Sunny Side Up, Beauty on a Budget and Youth Action Camera.
I have worked as emcee for Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival and served as a brand ambassador for J.Astaphans for two years.
Currently, I’m a brand influencer for Digicel; a Telecommunications provider and a marketing consultant for a few companies. I am a mum to two young boys. Jovani & Jazz.
